The annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count remains one of the most important tools for understanding homelessness in metro Atlanta. Coordinated by Partners for HOME, the PIT Count provides a snapshot of the number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness on a single night, helping community leaders, service providers, and policymakers better understand local needs and direct resources where they are needed most.
Required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the count gathers data on both sheltered and unsheltered residents experiencing homelessness. The information collected plays a critical role in securing federal funding, shaping housing strategies, identifying service gaps, and informing long-term solutions to homelessness across the region. Accurate data ensures that communities can develop targeted interventions and expand access to housing, healthcare, and supportive services.
