VINE CITY

A CRADLE OF CIVIL RIGHTS HISTORY

Nestled just west of downtown Atlanta, Vine City is a neighborhood steeped in the Civil Rights legacy. Home to leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Maynard Jackson, Vine City played a vital role in Atlanta’s fight for justice. Despite decades of disinvestment and challenges, residents have remained committed to preserving their community’s history and identity. New initiatives like the Rodney Cook Sr. Peace Park and affordable housing efforts are helping Vine City chart a new path forward—one that honors its past while creating new opportunities.

Quest Community Development Corporation (QuestCDC) has been a key partner in this journey, working alongside residents to provide affordable housing, supportive services, and programs that strengthen families and foster stability in the face of change.

GROVE PARK

A GREEN OASIS WITH A BOLD VISION

Grove Park, with its tree-lined streets and proximity to the Westside Park, has long been a community where families put down roots. While economic decline and disinvestment have left scars, the neighborhood is seeing a resurgence powered by community-driven efforts. The Grove Park Foundation, along with partners like QuestCDC, is working to ensure that revitalization efforts—such as new affordable housing, education initiatives, and wellness programs—benefit the residents who have shaped the neighborhood for decades.

QuestCDC’s holistic approach in Grove Park focuses on building not just homes, but communities—offering wraparound services that include workforce development, financial counseling, and mental health support to help residents achieve lasting stability.

ENGLISH AVENUE

A COMMUNITY RECLAIMING ITS FUTURE

Just north of Vine City, English Avenue—once known as "The Bluff"—has long been a symbol of both the challenges and the promise of the Westside. Known for its strong sense of community and vibrant history, English Avenue has faced significant struggles, including disinvestment, housing instability, and the opioid crisis. Yet, amid these challenges, a spirit of resilience persists.

Organizations like QuestCDC are helping English Avenue residents reclaim their future. Through the development of safe, affordable housing and access to essential services, QuestCDC is helping ensure that longtime residents are not pushed out but instead can thrive in the community they’ve long called home.

WEST LAKE

A COMMUNITY ROOTED IN LEGACY

West Lake, a quiet neighborhood defined by mid-century homes and generations of family legacies, remains a testament to the strength of the Westside. Known for its strong sense of community pride, active neighborhood associations, and faith-based institutions, West Lake has weathered change while maintaining its character.

Education has been a central pillar of West Lake’s identity, with generations of residents attending nearby schools like Booker T. Washington High School. The neighborhood’s resilience is reflected in its active neighborhood associations and faith-based institutions that continue to anchor the community.

QuestCDC’s presence in West Lake helps ensure that long-time residents can continue to build lives here, with access to safe, stable housing and the support they need to thrive.
