On Friday, March 13, 2026, Quest Community Development Corporation (QuestCDC) welcomed faith and community leaders from across Atlanta’s Westside to the Impact Center for the Westside Faith Leaders Luncheon—a meaningful convening focused on advancing economic justice and strengthening collective impact.

Hosted in partnership with the Southern Poverty Law Center, Self-Help Credit Union, and the Center for Responsible Lending, the luncheon brought together pastors, ministry leaders, nonprofit partners, and civic representatives who are deeply rooted in serving Westside communities.

The gathering opened with introductions and a powerful framing question: What does economic justice mean to you? From that starting point, participants engaged in a thoughtful and solutions-oriented dialogue about the systemic challenges facing residents and the role faith institutions can play in addressing them.

Centering Education, Empowerment, and Dignity

A central theme that emerged was the importance of equipping residents with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate complex financial systems that often disadvantage marginalized communities. Leaders emphasized expanding access to financial literacy, increasing awareness of predatory lending practices, and strengthening pathways to career development and youth engagement.

Beyond economic tools, the conversation underscored the importance of holistic support—including mental health resources and compassionate outreach to unhoused neighbors. Faith leaders affirmed that spiritual grounding remains a powerful force in helping individuals and families reimagine what is possible for their futures.

Expanding Access to Opportunity

Participants highlighted the need to move beyond simply addressing poverty toward building long-term stability and generational wealth. This includes ensuring equitable development, preserving affordable housing, and protecting legacy residents from displacement.

The discussion also addressed broader quality-of-life issues, including the need for accessible amenities such as grocery stores offering affordable, healthy food. Leaders stressed the importance of supporting residents at every stage of life—from youth to seniors—through intentional, community-driven solutions.

From Dialogue to Collective Action

While the conversation was rich and reflective, there was a clear consensus: this work must extend beyond a single gathering.

Faith leaders expressed a strong desire to build deeper connections across congregations and organizations, forming a more unified voice to advocate for their communities. Key issues identified for collective action included displacement pressures, predatory financial practices, and financial burdens impacting both residents and churches.

The luncheon marked the beginning of what participants hope will become an ongoing collaboration—one rooted in shared purpose, coordinated advocacy, and sustained engagement.

Looking Ahead

As a next step, convening partners will continue to facilitate connection among attendees, helping to establish priorities and plan future gatherings that build on this momentum.

QuestCDC is proud to serve as a space where leaders can come together to listen, learn, and lead. The Westside Faith Leaders Luncheon reflects a growing commitment to ensuring that long-time residents not only remain in their communities—but thrive within them.
