ATLANTA, GA – On September 24, QuestCDC welcomed residents, families, partners, and neighbors to The Leonard House for a National Recovery Day event honoring the strength, resilience, and hope of those on the road to recovery.

National Recovery Day reminds communities across the country that recovery is possible, that it is worth celebrating, and that no one has to walk the road alone. At The Leonard House, a no-cost, six-month transitional housing program serving men who have a substance use diagnosis or are in recovery, that message is part of daily life.

"Recovery looks different for everyone, but no one gets there alone," said Tiajila Clemons, Lead Certified Peer Specialist at The Leonard House. "National Recovery Day gave our residents a chance to see how many people are standing behind them."

A Day of Hope and Connection

The gathering featured stories of recovery, remarks from speakers, resource tables from partner organizations, food, and music. Guests connected with local partners and celebrated the milestones of men in recovery.

"As a peer specialist, I can tell you that the strongest moments in recovery are the ones where someone says, 'I've been where you are, and you can make it,'" Clemons said. "That's what today was about: people being seen, heard, and celebrated for the work they're doing."

Recovery Is a Community Effort

The Leonard House offers a full range of supportive services, including case management, peer support, medication monitoring, and community connections that help participants prepare for independent living. Its CARF-accredited services provide individualized, intensive case management designed to promote long-term stability.

"Our residents are so much more than their circumstances," Clemons said. "When you give someone a safe place, people who believe in them, and the right support, their potential for recovery and transformation shines through. I see it every day."

She added that events like National Recovery Day matter beyond the celebration itself. "They remind our men, and the community, that recovery is real, it's worth celebrating, and there is always a place for you here."

Thank You

QuestCDC thanks partners, sponsors, speakers, volunteers, and staff for helping make the day meaningful, and everyone who came out to show up for their neighbors.
